Sense of Life

This past spring break, I went to El Salvador.  As a common curtesy, I got friends all sorts of gifts as keepsakes from my trip.  One such gift was a bookmark.  This simple, and cheap gift can relate to the meaning of life in some way.  Some people may try to relate the meaning of life the amount of knowledge that they have. They strive after education as if it were the answer to life.  This philosophy goes as follows: The more you know, the more successful you will be, and ultimately the happier you will be. This version of life is related to bookmarks in the fact that books are a way to gain knowledge about various topics.

  1. Kristen,

I'm sure El Salvador was amazing, I can only imagine the stories you have from that experience. I love the idea that they strive for education; I think that sometimes we take education and our opportunities for granted, so it is great to see a country so determined to become educated.

Great post and I love the bookmark!

  2. This is neat! It reminds me of when I used to collect bookmarks as a kid. My favorite was one that my babysitter bought for me while she was traveling. It was made from pressed banana leaves. In retrospect, it was really plain, but I thought it was fun and unique. I also enjoyed how you tied the life meaning into it. Seeking knowledge is indeed important. Thanks for sharing!
